Eggs are from pairings between unrelated moths; equivalent to “wild.”
This population is double-brooded here in Iowa. The cocoons produced from these eggs will go into diapause and not produce moths until spring.
Foodplants: Walnut and hickory are used by this species here but both become too toxic under drought conditions for the second brood. Under drought conditions, second brood larvae (July-August) are best reared on birch, willow, or sweetgum.
Note: Eggs are sensitive to excessive heat: please do not supply an address that delivers to a mailbox in the sun. If the package is delayed by USPS, I will either re-ship or refund the order and shipping charges, because problems associated with shipping are always the responsibility of the seller. Never place food plant leaves in a closed container with eggs.
